The SARscene 2021 SAR Games will be a new twist on one of the most exciting parts of the annual SARscene Conference. With the move to a fully virtual conference, improvisation skills were required to put together a virtual Games Day worthy of a national conference of search and rescue professionals, whether they get paid for their work or not. This virtual format presents an opportunity for a unique and creative approach to a skills competition.

Teams of four (either from the same SAR team or a combination of teams) will choose one of three SAR disciplines (air, ground, or marine) to register in. Challenges will require teams to demonstrate some skills that are applicable to all SAR disciplines and some that are discipline specific. Instructions and materials will be sent to registered teams in advance. Teams will video record themselves completing the challenges, then submit videos to be judged by a panel. Winners for each discipline will be announced during the Games Day highlights presentation of the SARscene conference on Sunday, September 26, and the top teams will receive a prize.

To allow time for materials to be provided and for teams to record the challenges and submit their videos, the cut-off for registration will be Sunday, August 22nd, 2021.
