Like many things in this world, Search and Rescue Saskatchewan Association of Volunteers (SARSAV) was born out of tragedy. On July 14, 1994, eight-year-old Ashley Krestianson, her twin sister and a friend went to visit a neighbor near the community of Tisdale, Saskatchewan. On the way back, Ashley decided to take a shortcut. She never made it home.

Over the days and months that followed, police, military, and hundreds of community members took part in one of the largest search missions ever conducted in the province. This presentation covers from the time Ashley was reported missing to when she was found months later and will examine various aspects of the search.
