Ron Meyers - Canadian Standards Association
The world is driven by industry standards! Ground Search and Rescue Volunteers in Canada meet or exceed many standards required to safely execute duties and tasks during a SAR mission. But are they officially recognized?
It is crucial that all training of GSAR volunteers is developed within an Accredited program, meaning that the curriculum provided within the training meets established SAR standards (core competencies). Once GSAR volunteers are successfully trained, they need to be Certified as being so, to do the job they are tasked to do.
The presentation explores the many benefits of Accreditation and Certification and how it fits within the world of the GSAR volunteer.
